National AGA Community Service Event - Habitat 2013 - Atlantic City June 10 - 14

Join Us for Hurricane Sandy Community Service Project in Atlantic City June 10-14, 2013

By Jeff Hart, Past AGA National President

I hope you will join me, SVP Eric Elefante, and several RVPs and Presidents of the AGA chapters in the areas hardest hit by devastating Hurricane Sandy, in Atlantic City, June 10-14.  We will be working together with Habitat for Humanity to build a home for someone that lost theirs in Hurricane Sandy.

All AGA members, as well as their family and friends, are encouraged to join us for a day, or two, or the whole week.  No prior experience or special skills are required.  We will be supervised by professionals from Habitat, and many of us that have experience working on other Habitat worksites will be there to help guide you as well.  We have done similar projects in New Orleans and in several other AGA cities since 2007.

Many members on the East Coast can easily take the train or drive to Atlantic City.  Those farther away can fly directly into Atlantic City, or fly into Philadelphia, NYC, or Washington, D.C. and take a shuttle, train, or rental car on to Atlantic City.

Low-cost lodging is available at Trump Plaza on the boardwalk for as little as $62/night plus taxes and fees (AARP/AAA/Military rate).  Visit the Trump Plaza website at http://www.trumpplaza.com/ although I had better luck calling them at (609) 441-6000.  Their tax/fee structure is quite complicated, so be sure you understand bottom line costs so you’re not surprised later.  Eric and his team are also seeking low cost or donated meals from hotels or nearby restaurants.

Some chapters and private firms have sponsored 1 or 2 chapter members to participate in similar Habitat community service events in New Orleans and in our national AGA-PDC cities in past years, so please encourage your local chapter or firm to participate in any way they can.

If you’d like to register for this important project, or would like additional details before deciding, please email me jeffshart@comcast.net or give me a call at 303-907-4664.

Join Us for 2013 Community Service Projects in New Orleans, Atlantic City, and/or Dallas

By: AGA National President, Evelyn Brown, CGFM-Retired

I hope you will join me, Past National President, Jeff Hart, and other AGA members, family and friends at one of the three Habitat Community Service Projects scheduled this year.

The first event, co-sponsored by the New Orleans Chapter, is in New Orleans, April 30-May 3, scheduled between the two weekends of the New Orleans International Jazz Festival. Lodging is arranged in the beautiful, new University of New Orleans dormitories (some rooms are actually two bedroom furnished apartments) with a $30/night/person rate.

The second event, co-sponsored by AGA Senior Vice President, Eric Elefante, and the Regional Vice President’s and Presidents of the AGA chapters in the areas hardest hit by devastating Hurricane Sandy, takes place in Atlantic City, June 10-14. Free or low-cost lodging is arranged in a local church and nearby hotels.

The third event will be in Dallas, Thursday, July 18, the day after the PDC ends.

In past years, some chapters and private firms have sponsored 1 or 2 chapter members to participate in similar Habitat community service events, so please encourage your local chapter or firm to participate.

If you would like to register for any of these projects, or would like additional details before deciding, please email Jeff Hart at jeffshart@comcast.net, or give him a call at 303.907.4664.

EDIT, additional information on the Atlantic City outreach event are hosted as attachments below.  If you would like to attend, please download and populate the Excel form -- It makes things much easier to consolidate for the organizers.  We appreciate your help, and look forward to seeing you!
